"How are you feeling?"
The question my mom asks every week when she calls.
And, actually....I feel pretty good.
I had finished my DesBio protocol three weeks ago and was nervous about still having symptoms. They weren't awful, but they were still there and the homeopathic treatment was done.
Because of this, I started on Chronic Tonic from Misty Meadows.....it's just a blend of herbs to help strengthen my immune system. I'm also taking Teasel Root to reduce inflammation and an anti-inflammatory tea.
I'm still working out each day....in fact, after finishing the 100 day program, I went back to that 80 day program that I really enjoyed. Right now, I'm wrapping up phase 1.
Nutrition still plays an important role in my healing. I'm avoiding sugar, gluten, and dairy to avoid the chest pains, stabbing headaches and brain fog. Thank God the nutrition program I had started before Lyme set me up with good habits to continue......and there are so many recipes that are actually Lyme friendly!
The journey isn't over, but I feel like we've accomplished SOMETHING.
I’m a mom in my 40s of two boys, wife, middle school teacher, Reiki Master, and health & fitness coach. With all of this juggling, I have learned over the past few years that taking care of ourselves is NECESSARY to take care of others. This may include fitness, meditation, nutrition, and just getting enough sleep! Are you taking the time for yourself?

80 Days that transformed my life
The program:
So....I've been asked about the 80 day program that I was doing that had such great results. This is an 80 day program that was filmed live daily..... which means, you don't do the same workout at all throughout the 80 days. It is a total body workout with a focus on core and glutes that is broken into 3 phases.
The nutrition guide is based on timed nutrition. You calculate your caloric needs and find the plan that fits your needs. From there, your entire day is laid out for you...not what specifically to eat, but what food groups and portions to eat....and WHEN.
Phase 1:
This phase is broken into 6 workouts per week. They are the same moves each week....however, the reps and sequencing changes throughout the phase to keep you progressing. These workouts get you used to the basic moves and using the bands and sliders.....but it is NOT easy.
Phase 2:
This is a "build" phase...where you lift heavy and use more compound movements. I absolutely loved this phase. I wasn't seeing much in the way of lost weight or inches during these 4 weeks...but it definitely set things up for phase 3.
Phase 3:
This is a shred phase. You recalculate your caloric needs to make any adjustments, but you still get to eat PLENTY. This month isn't as heavy, but you aren't going easy. In fact....I think I was sore the entire 80 days. Not a bad sore....but a "yup....I worked those muscles" sore. This is where all the magic happens. You really see how much you have grown during this phase!
Results:
I actually had to INCREASE the amount of food that I was eating during this program and, although I didn't lose much in pounds....I definitely lost inches.

100 Days of Fitness and Nutrition
Well.....Lyme treatments are going much better now that we are finding what actually seems to WORK.
I've been using the DesBio Borrellia Babesia Homeopathic system and combining it with Byron White A-Babs herbal drops. Knock on wood, the only time I'm feeling symptoms is when I either increase my drops, or accidentally have gluten, sugar or dairy.
I've also started a new 100 day program that has 100 individually recorded workouts....so you aren't repeating videos. They are set up in blocks of 10 and in 5 different phases. All workouts that end in 1 (1, 11, 21...) are straight forward cardio workouts, those that end in 2 are upper body strength workouts, 3s are core, 4s are a whole body strength and plyometric workout, 5s are yoga-inspired, 6s are HIIT workouts, 7s lower body strength, 8s are MMA inspired, 9s are back-to-back resistance exercises that have you SWEAT, and 0s are stretches.
And the best part? They are only 20-30 minutes each! This makes getting on with the day so much easier.
As far as nutrition is concerned, it does come with a nutrition guide, but also fits perfectly with both of the nutrition programs that we already offer....one is my favorite that I have been using for quite a while now with a lot of success....and is easily adjustable to meet my strange dietary needs.

Where did you go?
So.....I haven't been on in quite a while.
But this doesn't mean that my journey had ended.
For five years and two months now, I have still been consistently working out and making improvements on my nutrition....and I thank God that I had made so much progress when I did.
Why?
Because last year I was diagnosed with Lyme.
This didn't seem like a big deal... 21 days on doxycycline and I felt great!
Ending my treatments coincided with being in a coach test group for one of my favorite programs....which meant I was eating VERY clean with no sugar and limited pasta.
Shortly after my test group (and great results, btw), I started feeling funny.....I was eating ice cream and Lindt chocolates and my health started going downhill....to the point where my husband wondered if I'd be able to return to work when the summer was over.
It turned out the Lyme was not gone....and gluten and sugar were making my symptoms worse.
If I hadn't cleaned up my nutrition prior to this, I don't know that I would have been able to figure out how to navigate this new way of life.....but thank the Lord for some great dessert recipes that use Maple Syrup or fruits for sweeteners.
The battle still continues, but my lifestyle changes prior to this have made things easier than they could have been.
How have you been doing on your health & fitness journey?
